Check out the event on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/516170291755635/

Speakers include:

Sarah Bishop, Executive Director of Buffalo First!, will talk about her work bringing the national conference of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) to Buffalo, NY in June 2013. Buffalo First! has been working tirelessly to organize this event, which will bring national leaders in local and small business development to Buffalo. Buffalo First! is a local non-profit whose mission is to build a local, green, and fair economy in the Buffalo-Niagara region. They promote shopping locally and work to get our local businesses' names out there to the community at large. When we shop locally, more dollars circulate and multiply in our regional economy and create a healthier environment. Learn more here: http://www.buffalofirst.org/

Crystal Surdyk, Administrative Manager at Joy Keubler Landscape Architect PC, will talk about Designing to Live Sustainably (D2LS), a design competition for youth. For 2013, D2LS asks, "How would you design a space in the City of Buffalo to promote living sustainably in a neighborhood there, and for the City of Buffalo as a whole?" D2LS sees opportunities in Buffalo's vacant and under-utilized properties and allows for international submissions of architectural and site designs which incorporate a long-term environmental, social, and economic benefit. Brenda Young, Ph.D., LEED AP, Daemen College Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement.
