Cruzando (6 min)

Cruzando is a love letter from a mother to her son, set against the backdrop of changing seasons in Buffalo, NY.

In Summer of '67 (Work in Progress) (15 minutes)

In the Summer of '67 is a meditation on the 1967 urban uprising in Buffalo NY through the lens of the present.

Olurotimi Akanbi is an artist-scholar, PhD student and Schomburg Fellow at the University at Buffalo. As an artist, he explores the duality of urban landscapes and the natural world along with the violence, injustice, ruin and renewal born out of that duality. His works have been screened both locally and internationally.


MY NEIGHBORHOOD

A meditation within a cinematic poem of the North-East side Buffalo, New York Leroy-Fillmore neighborhood where the artist lives.

PORCHTALKS

Recorded in the Northeast Buffalo, New York Central Park neighborhood, "PorchTalks ep1 &2" is a cinematic poem of conversations, cautionary tales, and confessions. Artist-filmmaker, Annette Daniels Taylor invites gives audiences a kaleidoscopic view of some neighbors in her changing 21st-century urban neighborhood.

Annette Daniels Taylor, is an award winning artist. As a filmmaker Annette's cinematic poems are screened and exhibited internationally. As a writer Annette is author of the children’s series The Marvelous Marvella J.Q: Marvella Finds Her Magic, Marvella Is a Model; and Marvella Takes Flight,(west44books, 2022,2023) about an Afro-latina who talks to animals; two novels in verse, Shoot the Storm (west44books, 2022) and Dreams on Fire (west44books, 2018). Her poems are featured in The Poetry Collection of the University Libraries Buffalo, New York's 15th Three Poems chapbook series.

Annette attended University at Buffalo, Department of Media Study; and Empire State College SUNY. She teaches Writing for Broadcast at SUNY Buffalo State Uniiversity, and Acting with D'Youville University's Dramatic Theater Arts MFA program and is a recipient of the Creatives Rebuild New York Artist Employee Program 2022-24. Annette is founding Director of QueenagerProjects, LLC a cultural arts production studio. You can see Annette as Paulina in A Winters Tale with Shakespeare in Delaware Park June 21thru July 14.
