Liminal Space Ensemble provides a resident professional new music chamber ensemble to the city of Buffalo for the purpose of engaging the community through presentation of recitals, educational programs, and social events which are accessible to diverse audiences. Based in Buffalo, NY, LSE was founded in August 2019 by Nicole Murray (flute) and Hope Wilk (harp) and features a rotating lineup of artists representing the top chamber musicians in the area, rooted by its regulars; Nicole Murray (flute), Hope Wilk (harp), Juan Herrera (percussion), John Smigielski (percussion), and Evan Courtin (violin). When not performing with LSE, members can be found performing with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Buffalo Chamber Players, Wooden Cities, and several other prestigious ensembles. LSE's musicians represent the top music conservatories in the world including Curtis, Juilliard, Peabody, Manhattan School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, New England Conservatory, and the Glenn Gould School of Music at the Royal Conservatory.
Liminal Space Ensemble was named the ensemble-in-residence at the Burchfield Penney Art Center for the 2021-22 season, and has performed extensively in the Buffalo area.
