Presented at:

A special Performance/Fiction Diction Double Bill: a reading by Patricia Eakins and a dance performance by Ann Carlson, who will perform excerpts from her dance piece ANIMAL WORKS.  [NOTE: Video documentation of this event is at the Hallwalls archive in the Poetry Collection, a special collection of the State University of New York at Buffalo Libraries; this documentation has been preserved and digitized for access.]

[NOTE: Although Hallwalls had been doing performances and readings (as well as film & video screenings and concerts) in the second-floor Vault space at 700 Main St. for well over a year before this date, it is evident from the video that this evening of performance and fiction was presented—no doubt at Ann Carlson's request—in the 4th-floor gallery instead, as all performances, concerts, readings, and screenings had been up until our acquisition of The Vault a year or two before. (The wooden floor of the gallery was more suitable for this dance performance than The Vault's concrete one.) It also appears, from a glimpse of Lori E. Seid at the beginning, that Ann Carlson had brought the legendary master techie up with her from the East Village of NYC to do her tech. E.C., 9/7/16]

[NOTE: The exhibition on the gallery walls at the time was THE SPIRAL OF ARTIFICIALITY, an "exhibition exploring the tension between photography and painting, organized by Visiting Curators Paul Laster and Renée Riccardo, featuring works by: Cindy Bernard; Dianne Blell; Ellen Brooks; Nancy Burson; Ellen Carey; Barbara Kasten; Pascal Kern; Vera Lehndorff & Holger Trulzsch; Allan McCollum; Mark Morrisroe; George Rousse; Dick Schlefer; David Seidner; and Andres Serrano. A Hallwalls Visiting Curators Program project." E.C. 9/7/16]
