Tysheka Long (a.k.a. Spoken), who conceived, organized, and hosts this event, writes: “This is not your usual poetry reading; it's a show with a beat, pulsing with spoken word and musical rhythms. This night will challenge your definition of a poetry reading.” Performers will include Black Magic, Howard Smith, Lonnie Harrell, Ntare Ali Gault, Priscilla Parker-Hill, Rain Bethel-Cooper, and Wise Mecca/vonetta t. rhodes.
Howard Smith and Ntare Ali Gault were among the winners of the recent Buffalo Poetry Slam, sponsored by Just Buffalo Literary Center at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, going on to represent Buffalo in the 2006 National Poetry Slam in Austin, Texas, August 9-12.
