M IS FOR THE MANY THINGS YOU GAVE ME: an alternative Mother's Day matinee. Featuring live performances, videotapes, and readings about mothers and their children. Among the many Buffalo-based performers scheduled to present work are Darleen Pickering Hummert, Mitzi Standard, Savannah, Jenny Miller, the Ladies of the Lake, and Bonita Z. Bernadette Hoppe will screen her acclaimed video documentary on three teenage mothers raising children in Buffalo; video works by dancer Bill T. Jones (and his mom), Holly Hughes, and many other internationally known artists will also be shown. Audience members will be invited to phone their mothers live from onstage; information from such groups as Planned Parenthood, Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays, and Buffalo United for Choice will be available. Mothers who come with their children get in for free.
