Tickets are $50 per person and include: cocktails and hors d'oeuvres reception at Hallwalls, transportation to & from Hallwalls & Dennis' home, and an artist-led tour of the house. 4 tours are scheduled in one-hour intervals between 5 & 8 pm. Dennis Maher will generously open the doors to his Fargo House, an experimental art & architecture project. In 2010, Maher acquired a house slated for demolition on Fargo Avenue in Buffalo. He has been living in and simultaneously transforming the house since that time. Excavations have been made into the walls, floors and ceilings to expose the layers of the house. This has been complemented by the continuous accumulation of salvaged materials and artifacts. The house has become a hybrid of post-industrial construction and archaeological dig; its surfaces are now layered communicators that speak of a continuous tension between the patterns of daily living and the instabilities of objects. Maher's unique living environment was the catalyst for his work as the 2012-13 Artist-in-Residence at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and is the subject of his forthcoming exhibition at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center. Buy tickets online, or by phone at 716-854-1694. A limited number of tickets remain, so please reserve yours as soon as possible. |
