Two night film and video program, in conjunction with the FOOD, ART, CULTURE Exhibition. The program features CONSUMING/ PASSION (Elise Friedman, 1984, 6.5min, 16mm); EAT (Michael Hoolboom, 1989, 15min, 16mm); FRUIT-I-CIDE (Jody Lafond, 1983, 10min, video); and PRODUCTION NOTES (Jason Simon, 1986, 60min, video). There will be a bake off and exhibition close out party following the second night.

Laylah Ali
Paintings and Drawings


Laylah Ali's work explores power dynamics and interpersonal conflict through compositions that position culturally, racially and sexually ambiguous figures in precarious, loaded, and unexpectedly humorous situations. Ali uses concise—even minimal—imagery that is specific in rendering and intent. While there are narratives in Ali's work, they are stories whose open spaces often give them the atmosphere of fables.
