Chile, Pbstinate Memory In conjunction with this summer's Latin Lens Film Series, Hallwalls is pleased to co-present Chile, Obstinate Memory (Patricio Guzmán,1998, 58min) which follows the documentary maker's return home to screen his 3-part epic, Battle of Chile after "a quarter century of censorship and self-censorship, buried memories and controlled grief." All The Glad Variety

Though distilled into broad symbolic forms or abstract landscapes, David Schirm's work often springs from his own experiences during the Vietnam War and paintings may allude to the scenes of horrific and senseless battles, the strafing of weapons across a landscape, "whose laser-like blazes of fired bullets gave a distinctive hum of un-worldliness to the darkness."
