Hallwalls and UB Department of Media Study present
Emulsified #6
"Emulsified #6 is an exploration into the thesis research areas of curator Blake Barit. Blake is a second year MFA candidate in the Department of Media Study at The University at Buffalo. Blake's thesis interests include the mass digitization of human culture and the current transition of media from analog to digital. A graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, Blake's film practice began with 8mm and 16mm celluloid experiments involving tactile manipulation and dark room chemical possesses. Currently, in DMS, Blake enjoys mining our culture in transition to produce work involving both analog and digital tools in the areas of installation and performance in addition to research interests in media archaeology and archive theory.
With the program of Emulsified #6, Blake will explore the 16mm film archive of DMS in an effort to contextualize his thesis research and center films from the archive that he feels speak to those themes."
