The Tallest Dwarf

Thursday, October 9, 2025
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Julie Forrest Wyman (Dir), 90 minutes, USA, Western New York Premiere

Director Julie Forrest Wyman in attendance.

When filmmaker Julie Wyman embarks on a journey to understand the rumors of dwarfism in her family, her path collides with a new drug that promises to make little people taller, threatening the community it claims to serve. As Julie discovers her place in dwarf culture, the film asks whether it's possible to see and be seen differently.

The film charts Wyman’s quest to find her place within the little people community at the very moment when dwarf bodies, identity, and culture are poised to radically change. The little people (LPs) at the heart of the film are people whose bodies have historically been put on display, called monsters and 'midgets', and been tokenized on Hollywood sets. The audience enters dwarf culture through an invitation to look – but to look differently, through the perspective of director Julie Wyman's own story.
