The University at Buffalo Department of Music is pleased to present experimental vocal ensemble. experimental vocal ensemble is a forum for exploring the mythologies and expressive possibilities of the human voice. The ensemble, comprised of both performers and composers, is under the direction of UB Assistant Professor of Music, Tony Arnold. Members include Randy Andre, Drew Burke, Christopher Culp, Amanda DeBoer, Rin Ozaki, Diana Soh and Laura Neese.

This concert will feature world premiere performances of works written expressly for BABEL by John Bacon, Christopher Culp, Drew Burke and Diana Soh, as well as music of Georges Aperghis, John Cage, Luciano Berio and others.

David Schirm
All The Glad Variety

Though distilled into broad symbolic forms or abstract landscapes, David Schirm's work often springs from his own experiences during the Vietnam War and paintings may allude to the scenes of horrific and senseless battles, the strafing of weapons across a landscape, "whose laser-like blazes of fired bullets gave a distinctive hum of un-worldliness to the darkness."
