As a benefit for the Hallwalls Artists in Residence Project (HARP), in particular Eileen Myles's SCOUT project (October 18–28, 2001), Hallwalls and WBNY present an evening with Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, with readings by special guests Eileen Myles and Chris Kraus. [NOTE: With the event taking place just nine days after September 11th, Kim Gordon remained at home with daughter Coco, while partner Thurston Moore traveled to Buffalo and performed instead with Jim O'Rourke.]

David Schirm
All The Glad Variety

Though distilled into broad symbolic forms or abstract landscapes, David Schirm's work often springs from his own experiences during the Vietnam War and paintings may allude to the scenes of horrific and senseless battles, the strafing of weapons across a landscape, "whose laser-like blazes of fired bullets gave a distinctive hum of un-worldliness to the darkness."
