The fourth annual spring S.E.M. Festival Featuring DIENES DOODLES Sari Dienes presentation of events, performances and culinary art by the Hungarian-born poet, painter, teacher and sculptor. Performances by composers Ralph Jones and Tim Leaphart, Jim Burton's recent compositions performed by a brass band of Hallwalls artists, and a voice, flute and drum piece by S.E.M. musician James Kasprowicz.

Laylah Ali
Paintings and Drawings

Laylah Ali's work explores power dynamics and interpersonal conflict through compositions that position culturally, racially and sexually ambiguous figures in precarious, loaded, and unexpectedly humorous situations. Ali uses concise—even minimal—imagery that is specific in rendering and intent. While there are narratives in Ali's work, they are stories whose open spaces often give them the atmosphere of fables.
