Wooden Cities

Wooden Cities is both an ensemble and a collective of performers and composers dedicated to presenting ensemble pieces for open instrumentation while seeking to help increase the performance and awareness of contemporary classical music in Western New York through unique educational presentations. Formed in July of 2011 in Buffalo, the group originally served as a vehicle for Director Brendan Fitzgerald to present John Zorn's game piece Cobra. Since that time the group has grown to include over a dozen performers, continually seeking new works by contemporary composers while continuing to present some of the essential, yet underrepresented composers of the 20th Century.

Program to include:

and other music composed by Ashley Barnes, Chien-Han Hsao, Robert Naranjo, Vincent Parlato, West Richter, and Kevin Westermann.

Tony Conrad @ Hallwalls

Culled from nearly 40 years of Hallwalls' still and video archives (1977–2014), this exhibition will serve as a prelude to Introducing Tony Conrad, the upcoming retrospective at the UB Art Gallery and Albright Knox Art Gallery, by showcasing a selection of performances and still imagery documenting Conrad's decades-long association with Hallwalls.
