Lőrinc Barabás

Solo Live Act

Trumpet player and producer Lőrinc Barabás (first name Lőrinc, family name Barabás) has been a mover and shaker of the improvisational music scene in Budapest. Over the past decade his club events and bands provided fertile ground for kindred spirits experimenting at the crossroads of jazz and electronica. He gained wider international recognition at events such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and the iTunes Festival in London, and has shared the stage with the Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, and Erik Truffaz.

About Barabás Lőrinc Live Act: This solo project blends dance grooves, meditative moods, and all the shades in between. On stage he juggles keyboards, trumpet, effects, laptop, and loop station. His live performances always have the excitement of a journey through unexpected modern tribal landscapes.

About BuBu Arts: Established in the summer of 2018, BuBu Arts is an artists' residency exchange between Budapest, Hungary and Buffalo, New York. The goal of the program is to enable artists (starting in 2018 with visual artists) to meet and network with other artists and arts professionals internationally. Ideally, the BuBu Artist Resident Exchange Program will build a strong and meaningful relationship between the two international art capitals' local artists' communities, and specifically (on the studio side) two contemporary art gallery/workspaces: Buffalo Arts Studio and Art Quarter Budapest. Visual artists-in-residence so far have included, from Budapest, Zsófi Barabás (sister of tonight's musical performer), Márton Nemes, Zsolt Bodoni, & Zsófia Keresztes (residency split between Brooklyn & Buffalo) and, from Buffalo, Sarah FonziPam Glick. Coming up from Buffalo: Jake Kassay, Mark Lavatelli, & Polly Little. This is BuBu Arts' first performing arts presentation.
