AN ORDEAL WITH NICK ZEDD

Nick Zedd's Theatre of Shame presents SHE, a performance written in collaboration with Lydia Lunch featuring Nick Zedd. Zedd will also screen films including THE WILD WORLD OF Lydia Lunch (1983, color/sound, 28 minutes, super 8mm) and THEY EAT SCUM (1979, color/sound, 70min, super 8mm), which features performers Donna Death, and The Blessed. [NOTE: Video documentation of Zedd's performance of SHE is at the Hallwalls archive in the Poetry Collection, a special collection of the State University of New York at Buffalo Libraries; this documentation has been preserved and digitized for access.]

Laylah Ali

Laylah Ali's work explores power dynamics and interpersonal conflict through compositions that position culturally, racially and sexually ambiguous figures in precarious, loaded, and unexpectedly humorous situations. Ali uses concise—even minimal—imagery that is specific in rendering and intent. While there are narratives in Ali's work, they are stories whose open spaces often give them the atmosphere of fables.
