Matthew Derby & Vijay Seshadri

Exhibit X Fiction & Prose

Matthew Derby is the author of Super Flat Times: Stories (Little Brown). His writing has appeared in McSweeney's, Conjunctions, Columbia Journal, and The Believer. He lives in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Vijay Seshadri is the author of Wild Kingdom. His poems have appeared in the New Yorker, Paris Review, and Best American Poetry. He was born in India and now lives in Brooklyn.

Laylah Ali
Paintings and Drawings

Laylah Ali's work explores power dynamics and interpersonal conflict through compositions that position culturally, racially and sexually ambiguous figures in precarious, loaded, and unexpectedly humorous situations. Ali uses concise—even minimal—imagery that is specific in rendering and intent. While there are narratives in Ali's work, they are stories whose open spaces often give them the atmosphere of fables.
