Martha Wilson performs THE ANNOTATED ALICE, QUEEN, and MUDPIE on the 24th, 26th, and 28th: "A series of three performances which are part of Wilson's ongoing work THE ANNOTATED ALICE, 'Impersonations. Invasions. Transformations. Martha Wilson is a performance artist whose work is grounded in literature. Her latest performance, QUANDOCULARY, part of the ANNOTATED ALLICE series, has been expressly written for Hallwalls.' Her residence is sponsored by the Gallery Association of New York program."

Laylah Ali
Paintings and Drawings


Laylah Ali's work explores power dynamics and interpersonal conflict through compositions that position culturally, racially and sexually ambiguous figures in precarious, loaded, and unexpectedly humorous situations. Ali uses concise—even minimal—imagery that is specific in rendering and intent. While there are narratives in Ali's work, they are stories whose open spaces often give them the atmosphere of fables.
