A reading in honor of the distinguished Western New York press that recently moved its offices to Buffalo. Readings by Josip Novakovich and Dennis Maloney. Also selections from White Pine's new translation of poems by Pablo Neruda (with photos by Milton Rogovin) read by translator and White Pine founder Dennis Maloney, who will also lead a discussion on the world of small press publishing.

Laylah Ali
Paintings and Drawings


Laylah Ali's work explores power dynamics and interpersonal conflict through compositions that position culturally, racially and sexually ambiguous figures in precarious, loaded, and unexpectedly humorous situations. Ali uses concise—even minimal—imagery that is specific in rendering and intent. While there are narratives in Ali's work, they are stories whose open spaces often give them the atmosphere of fables.
