Rikki Ducornet

Rikki Ducornet, is the author of seven novels, including The Stain, Entering Fire, The Fountains of Neptune, Phosphor in Dreamland, The Fan Maker's Inquisition, a Los Angeles Times Book of the Year, and The Jade Cabinet, runner-up for The National Book Critics' Circle Award. In 2005 she received the Lannan Literary Award for Fiction. Her most recent novel, Gazelle, originally published in hard cover by Knopf, is now out in paperback from Anchor. Her collection of essays, The Monstrous and the Marvelous, was published by City Lights. She teaches at the University of Denver.

Exhibit X is a co-presentation of Hallwalls and the UB English Dept., which funds this free ongoing series as a public service of UB. Writers are selected and introduced by Christina Milletti.

David Schirm
All The Glad Variety

Though distilled into broad symbolic forms or abstract landscapes, David Schirm's work often springs from his own experiences during the Vietnam War and paintings may allude to the scenes of horrific and senseless battles, the strafing of weapons across a landscape, "whose laser-like blazes of fired bullets gave a distinctive hum of un-worldliness to the darkness."
