Quarter-Life Crisis: A New Generation Sings New Musical Theatre

continuum theatre company
A cast of seven young performers and a small band sing and play a compilation of songs by very new musical theatre composers, many receiving their Buffalo-area premieres. Touching on the frustrations and joys of young adulthood, Quarter-Life Crisis isn't musical theatre as you might think of it, with songs like "Anonymous Sex" and "Villain's Girl" offering a dirty, edgy attitude. Others—like "Run Away With Me" or "Not Afraid"—give the musical theatre ballad a contemporary twist. You'll laugh, you'll sigh, and you'll remember what it's like to have (or realize you're in the midst of) your own Quarter-Life Crisis.

Marla Hlady
Walls

For the past twenty years, objects and sound have played an ongoing and intimate part in the practice of Toronto artist Marla Hlady. Often, a rigorous and seemingly solid sculptural form has been injected with an element of seemingly spontaneous action—which generates its own sound score—as well as pre-recorded sound elements introduced innocuously into fabricated objects. There has often been a duality between the desire to contain and shape sound and motion and the impulse to let it find its own self-actualizing space.
