Ten Years Later: Where Are We Looking Now?

Granta 116

A panel discussion commemorating the 9/11 attacks in the U.S.

In conjunction with the publication of Granta 116: Ten Years Later, a collection of works looking at how the world has changed since 9/11/01, the magazine's editors have asked a small number of bookstores around the world to organize local events to comment on and explore the subject. Talking Leaves is pleased to be one of the bookstores chosen to participate in this international conversation. Copies of Granta 116 will be available for purchase at the event and at Talking Leaves. The panel—moderated by Jon Welch of Talking Leaves—includes Lou Jean Fleron, Director of Workforce, Industry, & Economic Development at Cornell U. and co-chair of Partnership for the Public Good; playwright, fiction writer, community arts activist, public radio commentator, and language arts professor Gary Earl Ross; Professor Isabel Marcus, Director of International & Graduate Programs of the UB Law School and member of the Board of Directors of the Network of East-West Women, an international NGO; and Hallwalls director Ed Cardoni.

Buffalo visual artist Terri Katz Kasimov's 9•11cwk—a series of 21 collages created in 2001 and 2002, after her family's close brush with the horrors of 9/11—will be on view in the Hallwalls Cinema during this event and through September 14.
