Two from Toronto: Judith Doyle (co-owner of RUMOUR publications, will read from her novel-in-progress, DRIVE) and Eldon Garnet (publisher of IMPULSE magazine, author of BREBUF and artist in video, Super-8, paper, photos, and books, will read from his work). Publications willbe on sale following the reading including such titles as Kathy Acker's newest book, KATY GOES TO HATI, and IMPULSE magazine    [NOTE: Audio documentation in Hallwalls Archive at the Poetry Collection, indicates Eldon Garnet read is piece called “Barnyard. A Drama in the Kitchen”. but writing on label is difficult to read.]

Laylah Ali
Paintings and Drawings


Laylah Ali's work explores power dynamics and interpersonal conflict through compositions that position culturally, racially and sexually ambiguous figures in precarious, loaded, and unexpectedly humorous situations. Ali uses concise—even minimal—imagery that is specific in rendering and intent. While there are narratives in Ali's work, they are stories whose open spaces often give them the atmosphere of fables.
