Robert Coover (February 4, 1932–October 5, 2024) reads from his short fiction on his 49th birthday.
“Annie Pluto and I weren't officially the curators of the Fiction Diction series until May 1981, and Coover's reading was on a cold night in February. I was more or less the liaison between Ray Federman (May 15, 1928–October 16, 2009) and Donna Wyszomierski of Hallwalls (September 14, 1952–April 21, 2023) on that one. In March [3/1/81] I think we also brought in Ron Silliman, who was already a prominent figure in the Language writing movement, although at that time the movement was inchoate and had not yet been given a widely recognized ‘name.’ That would happen in 1982 with Charles Bernstein's famous essay in The Paris Review.”~ R.D.Pohl, Facebook Comment, 10/8/24
