KOMAR AND MELAMID

Russian dissident artists, Vitaly Komar and Aleksandr Melamid, will present a slide lecture/ performance entitled ABOUT THEMSELVES, detailing their experiences in Russia, Israel and The United States over the past decade. Also presenting that evening are George Scherer (as George Martin, LAS VEGAS COMEDIAN) and Mitzi Smyntek (as Francesca DiVita, ITALIAN FILM STAR). Rescheduled from January 28, 1985. Culled from nearly 40 years of Hallwalls' still and video archives (1977–2014), this exhibition will serve as a prelude to Introducing Tony Conrad, the upcoming retrospective at the UB Art Gallery and Albright Knox Art Gallery, by showcasing a selection of performances and still imagery documenting Conrad's decades-long association with Hallwalls.
