A spectacular live auction of 40 artworks will celebrate Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center's 40th anniversary. The auction includes works by Hallwalls founders Robert Longo, Cindy Sherman, Charles Clough, Diane Bertolo, Michael Zwack, and Nancy Dwyer. It also features exhibiting artists from 40 years of gallery programming, including Ellen Carey, Lynda Benglis, A.J. Fries, Kyle Butler, George Hughes, Suzy Lake, Jackie Felix, Joan Linder, Carl Ostendarp, and Laylah Ali, just to mention a few. Many of the artists included in this auction are considered among the most significant contemporary artists working today.

We are proud to be holding the auction in Babeville's beautiful Asbury Hall. An open bar includes signature cocktails, champagne, wine and mixed drinks, with a selection of hearty hors d'oeuvres served through out the event. The evening begins with a preview from 7–8 p.m.; bidding begins promptly at 8 p.m.

All of this, as well as the great company and camaraderie of Hallwalls' supporters, will create an evening to be remembered. Tickets are $40 each or two for $70. Tickets are available online now; they can also be purchased by calling Hallwalls at 716-854-1694 or by visiting Hallwalls in person. Support Hallwalls and own a piece of its living history by attending this unique event.

Laylah Ali
Paintings and Drawings


Laylah Ali's work explores power dynamics and interpersonal conflict through compositions that position culturally, racially and sexually ambiguous figures in precarious, loaded, and unexpectedly humorous situations. Ali uses concise—even minimal—imagery that is specific in rendering and intent. While there are narratives in Ali's work, they are stories whose open spaces often give them the atmosphere of fables.
