A multi-venue exchange exhibition at Spaces (Cleveland, May 5-June 16, 2000), Hallwalls (Buffalo, July 8-August 25, 2000) and Detroit Artists Market (Detroit, September 15-October 13, 2000) featuring artists from the Lake Erie region. Also including a symposium (June 7, 2000 "Great Lake Erie in the 20th Century") investigating the physical, biological and perceptual change occurring over the past century; poetry readings (June 10, 2000 in cooperation with Poetry: Mirror of the Arts Series by the Poets League of Grater Cleveland). David Schirm
All The Glad Variety


Though distilled into broad symbolic forms or abstract landscapes, David Schirm's work often springs from his own experiences during the Vietnam War and paintings may allude to the scenes of horrific and senseless battles, the strafing of weapons across a landscape, "whose laser-like blazes of fired bullets gave a distinctive hum of un-worldliness to the darkness."
