Plates from Scott McCarney's COMING TO TERMS: AN ABECEDARIUM, A LEXICON OF TERMS EMPLOYED IN PSYCHIATRY AND PSYCHOANALYSIS IN COMBINATION WITH PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ARTIST BY OTHER PERSONS.

This year’s exhibition features works by 1999 International Studio Program Residency Exhibition features visual artists in residence Mary Lum and Scott McCarney. Mary Lum developed a new body of work that consists of everyday snapshots of city structures selectively translated into paintings, drawings, and constructions. Scott McCarney created several new series of mixed media works that focus on McCarney’s personal experiences, such as a mid-life project entitled "Coming to Terms," and "Who’s Who in America," which is based on his daily encounters as the only American artist of fourteen ISP artists in residence.

David Schirm
All The Glad Variety


Though distilled into broad symbolic forms or abstract landscapes, David Schirm's work often springs from his own experiences during the Vietnam War and paintings may allude to the scenes of horrific and senseless battles, the strafing of weapons across a landscape, "whose laser-like blazes of fired bullets gave a distinctive hum of un-worldliness to the darkness."
