NATHANIEL FREEMAN
Nathaniel Freeman's work considers the overlap between a seemingly organized mental state and pure bedlam, and the way these two conditions are not opposites so much as transitory manifestation of a cultural need. His work is often inspired by a family history that has produced both military Generals and wards of the state within the same generation-leading Freeman to an interest in characters at odds with their own entropic attempts to impose order. The sense of power vs. helplessness extends to the viewer, engaged and immersed in Freeman's video installations. |
